The Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 AM - 4 PM. Please call or e-mail the center in advance if you have specific research needs.

The Chicago Women’s History Center is located in a building in the historic Fine Arts Building on Michigan Ave. Suite 403. W’e are adjacent to the Venetian Court.

Formalized in 2016, the Center creates a new cultural space in the city where people from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines can come together to help explore and preserve Chicago women’s history.

The Center contains an extensive library of books on Chicago history, women’s history, the contemporary women’s movement, Chicago art, photography and media, and reference materials on related topics.

In addition, the Center collects and preserves archival materials related to the second wave women’s movement in Chicago, oral histories of Chicago women activists during the post WWII period, and other educational resources. These materials are currently being digitized and will be put online for public access.
