Preserving Your History at Home
Join professional archivist Beth Loch for a workshop on how to best preserve your personal materials at home and on a budget. Your photographs, correspondence, scrapbooks, journals, home videos, certificates and other historic items you've collected speak to your personal history and should be properly protected for years to come. Each attendee is encouraged, but not required, to bring an item in need of preservation for discussion. The workshop includes a PowerPoint on how to store, handle, organize and correct/prevent common problems (including tears, discoloration, AV migration, mold and pest issues). There will be plenty of time for individual discussion and evaluation of items brought. Please note: no snacks nor beverages will be provided due to the presence of archival materials.
